Michael's and Abbey's group
Upstairs bedroom
Human pendulum
Michael encouraged the group to make a circle and hold hands to make the human pendulum. Micheal called out to ask spirit to choose a conduit. Spirit chose and the guest went into the middle. We began calling out to spirit. We were communicating with a man who was around at the same time as Ruth which was the 1860's. His picture was in the bedroom and he was a soldier. His name was not identified. He was a ladies man who liked to drink whiskey. He entertained lots of women in the bedroom. He was married, however he was caught having an affair with another woman by his wife. After a good drink he unfortunately has his life taken from him before his time, he was pushed down the stairs and broke his neck. There was one gentleman guest making the circle and he felt his neck hurting. One of the guests had to leave the room as they were feeling sick. Several guests noticed the ladies face who was the conduit, her face looked distorted, spirit was making his impression on her by changing her face to look like him.
Laundry room
Cat balls, dowsing rods, light up bear.
All guests and Abbey had a walk though to the smaller room within the laundry room. Everyone that entered the room felt a pressure on their head and dizzy, so it was decided we would all stay in the main laundry room. Abbey called out to spirit. It was confirmed a little boy was present. One of the guests recieved the name William and the dowsing rods confirmed this. William was asked who he wanted to communicate with and the dowsing rods turned to Abbey. Abbey asked William questions and we found he passed when he was 9 years old. During this investigation William told us that his Mam has crossed over but he is stuck and wants to cross over. He has no family left and he said he is all alone. William used the touch bear to communicate and answer questions.
Unfortunately we ran out of time and we had to say good bye to William.
What an incredible investigation, it is shame we did not have more time. We were able to communicate with several spirits, noises were heard, shadows were seen, wet dog smells were smelt and many guests had physical symptoms of feeling unwell. Ormesby Hall delivered and I can not wait to go back and find out more information about William, Ruth and the mystery ladies man.

We set up in base camp and welcomed our new and old guests to the venue. There was a few investigation virgins with us so was great to see some new faces joining the LVI family.
Michael took the team through the welcome talk and we all discussed what the night would entail. We took our group pictures and headed down stairs to the photographer room to start our evening.

Alan took us all through the white light of protection and then nipped out to complete his own.
The team and guests spread out around the room, got comfortable, turned off all the torches and we started calling out.
There was quite a bit of creaking around the building which we were able to rule out as the old buildings floorboards settling.
A few faint taps were heard on the blocked off door that lead from the corridor to the room but when we asked spirit to repeat this we didn’t get a response.
A chilled feeling had effected a few of the guests around the room, this was impacting only the left hand side of their bodies and a guest got the name Sarah through so we started to call out using this name.
There was movement spotted in the middle of the room beside Michael by both Katie and Rob. While we were discussing this a whimper was heard. Again when asked to repeat this spirit didn’t respond.
We believe that Sarah may have been a child around 7 or 8 years old. She played in this room and liked seeing more people in this area.
A further shadow was also seen at the bottom of the room by the windows. This was a taller figure and Rob believed that this was the spirit of a man.
Alan rejoined the group and after explaining what we had picked up we continued to call out and question the two spirits who had joined us.
A guest mentioned they could smell wet dog in the room. Alan explained that spirits of animals could also be felt. Rosa a volunteer explained that the property previously housed two dogs.
The taller figure we believe was prohibiting Sarah from interacting as much as she wanted to.
A guest who was sat on the floor felt a tap on her head, then Alan felt a spirit touch his hand. Alan explained that whenever a child spirit is communicating the contact we would receive would generally be waist hight or below. Michael the held out his hand and asked spirit to touch his hand and when he did the cart ball close by set off.
We continued to discuss with the group and the volunteers the time frames of the building and the uses of this room when we heard a loud wail from the corridor that the side door lead onto.
A good start to the night and the energy was starting to build. We decided to take a short break and split up into our groups ready to get down to the nitty gritty of the investigation.
Dinning room

The group settled into positions around the room and Michael asked a guest Ange to take control of the rods and be our conduit for spirit.
We were instantly joined by a strong spirit. This was a female spirit and she was the last female owner of the building.
Rosa a volunteer explained that this lady would be Ruth.
This was confirmed by the rods. Ruth explained that she was connected to this property when she was in her 40’s. She also explained that she was attached here in the decade of 1860.
She enjoyed a party and although not permanently attached to this building would come visit as there was some great memories here. This room was used by all of the families that lived here for eating and the laughter that happened in this room made this area of the building very special. This was why Ruth had been drawn to us this evening because of our laughing and giggling.
Ruth was very light hearted and enjoyed a joke. We asked Ruth to confirm where in the room, the lady was that said her name and she used the rods to point directly at her. We also asked Ruth where she was in the room and she pointed again to the other corner of the room where a guest had mentioned she felt something was stood beside her.
Michael asked Ruth if she was aware of any other spirits in the building. We were able to confirm that there was a male spirit on the upstairs landing. He wasn’t a nice spirit and had passed in the building. Michael asked where he had been injured that caused his death and gave the options of stomach issues, issues with his head or a heart attack. Spirit said no to all of these and then Katherine, a guest asked spirit if it was his neck and the rods confined ‘yes’
We tried to communicate further with Ruth using the touch bear and also tried to encourage some table tipping. Other that a couple of interactions on the touch bear we didn’t get much response. Ruth defiantly preferred the rods.
We asked Ruth if she would stay with us that night and she said yes so we thanked her for interacting and took a short break.

Team walk around (pre guests arriving)
On their walk around, the team found themselves in the ground floor drawing room. While in this room, Alan received the image of a gentleman with dark wavy hair and dark sideburns, wearing a long coat. He had the impression this was potentially a former owner so the group did a quick callout. On three separate occasions, the group heard what sounded like the swish of a woman’s dress at the far end of the room. This would be of significance during the guests investigation.

As the group of guests spread along the corridor, we placed the coin trigger board on Frank’s bed in the small bedroom and Katie placed a rem pod three steps down on the main staircase. A couple of cat balls were then placed in the opening to various bedrooms. With torches extinguished and now in full darkness, we commenced to call out to spirit. Literally within the first few seconds, the rem pod was triggered for a few seconds as if somebody had walked past it. Immediately after this there was a loud bang from the first room on the right, next to Franks bedroom. We asked if we had spirit with us and again, the rem pod was activated. Guests sensed movements in the corridor and some guests saw shadows moving in and out of the bedrooms. We asked if we had a male spirit with us and again, the rem pod went off. Each time we asked him to step away from the rem, the alarm ceased. Guests had the impression that it was a male spirit who was moving amongst us and again, shadow figures were seen to move in and out of bedrooms as if someone was going about their daily work.
As all felt silent, we decided to conduct a crystal and board activity. Spirit immediately came through on the crystal and identified as a male former servant who had worked in the building mid to late 19th century.He confirmed that he had been moving about as if repeating his work and said that we were okay being there but he was a little frustrated that we were getting in his way. He stated that he was there not because of his love of the building but because there was a certain object that was his and it was in one of the bedrooms. When asked to swing the crystal toward the relevant bedroom, the crystal pointed to Jim and Ruth Penniman’s bedroom. We thanked spirit and investigated the room but could not see any object that would have been associated with this gentleman. Fantastic stuff!
Guests were then asked to choose a room of their choice to investigate and one significant thing came of this. One of the female guests came out of Frank’s room (she had no idea of the history) and stated that her chest felt heavy as if there was pressure being applied. Alan and a couple of the guests went in and conducted an EVP session but nothing was recorded. The National Trust volunteer then explained to the female guest the history of Frank who was the young son of former owners who had passed away in the room with TB.

There was very little response to calling out although the room had a heavy feeling to it. Three guests noticed the smell of pipe smoke so was this a spirit giving us a sign or was this residual energy being picked up? We decided to try and use an SP7 spirit box through a Bluetooth speaker. After a few minutes of trying we were just receiving static so we switched to a Spirit VOX app through Bluetooth headphones via an Estes activity. There was not a great deal of activity coming through although the names Edith and possibly William came through. With little activity, we moved to the hall area that used to be set up as the theatre room.
Hall area - Human Pendulum
Katie arranged the guests in a circle, with one lady chosen by spirit as she seemed to be swaying forwards and backwards. With the guest now in the middle of the circle we got immediate responses to questioning. Spirit identified as a male who had formally been in the merchant Navy but was not a part of the original Penniman family. He had married one of the owners daughters and taken their surname. He stated that he comes in visitation and was present in between 1850 and 1899. After the activity had finished, the National Trust volunteer (Donna) stated that this was actually the case and a man had married into the family and had taken the Penniman surname. He had been in the Navy so this was brilliant confirmation that we had received accurate historical information from spirit.
We believed the activity had ceased but a guest had placed a K2 meter on a stand in the room and this suddenly burst into life as we were talking about the exhibits in the room, namely the old-fashioned cameras and photographs. On questioning, we found that we had a female spirit whose father had been an early pioneer of the photography movement . She said she was proud that some of her fathers work was still there. Donna started telling us that they had discovered some of the owners original cameras boxed up in the loft area (these originated from the late 1800’s) fairly recently and this confirmed what spirit was telling us. As she was talking, the K2 was giving multiple hits so again, another piece of brilliant activity.

We finished the evening in the drawing room with the group spread out along the full length of the room. Someone sensed that that we had a female spirit with us and this was confirmed with two very quiet taps. Alan explained the image of the gentleman he had received when the team members were on the walk around. This elicited quiet taps and when we asked if spirit was happy we were there there was no response. We asked if this was a private area for the family and we received two taps. We got the impression that spirit wanted us to move to another room and when we asked this, again there was a very quiet tap. We decided to leave spirit in peace and as we were leaving the room we had a quick look at the portraits/photos. There was one small reproduction print of a painting in a stand and to his surprise, Alan confirmed this was the gentleman that he had saw in his minds eye on the team walk around. He appeared to be about 10 years older than Alan saw him but was wearing the long coat. Although there was no name attributed to the person, it appeared to be from the 1700s.
A great night was had with multiple bits of activity and this just gets stronger every time we go there.
